Coming into Fashion: A Century of Photography at Condé Nast is this summer’s exhibition at the City Art Centre in Edinburgh. From their website:
The exhibition shows early work by such luminaries as Cecil Beaton, Erwin Blumenfeld, Helmut Newton, David Bailey, Guy Bourdin, Corinne Day, Mario Testino and Sølve Sundsbø as it appeared in the pages of Vogue, Glamour and other Condé Nast publications.
This isn’t an obvious choice of exhibition for me to highlight, but I’m doing so because the gallery is running a number of adult art classes in parallel with the exhibition. Employing techniques like collage, and being fashion focussed, the classes are outside my immediate area of interest, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy them and learn from them in the same way that the superb Drawing Room sessions engage me.
I’ve booked my place on a number of classes. For any fellow Edinburgh art students, booking information can be seen on their events page. The classes are described on page 10 of the PDF. Note that you need to buy a ticket for the exhibition to attend a class (no extra cost), and if you’re going to more than 1 class then a season ticket (around £8) is the best choice.
