Sketches for 2014, number 29 — The Little Mermaid

Long overdue, here is the next in my 1-sketch-every-3-days series…

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark
Over the Little Mermaid’s 100 year history, this bronze statue has had its head cut off twice, arm once, and has been defaced many times. The status was modelled on prima ballerina Ellen Price, who played The Little Mermaid for the Royal Danish Ballet at the time. Because she didn’t want to pose nude, the face was based on the ballerina’s but the body was modelled by sculptor Edvard Eriksen’s own wife.

My sketch debt

I owe far too many sketches! A lot of catching up to do at some point.

Sketch 40: Wednesday 30th April

This post is part of a series of sketches for 2014 that I will be posting every 3rd day. I will draw people and things from around the world that I find beautiful or interesting. The series will end on 29th December 2014 with post number 121.
